It was rooted back to the plans by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi who arrived in the Philippines in 1565, and was named after Christopher Columbus. Now, Colon Street in the heart of Cebu City in Cebu is a busy downtown street lining up stalls, stores, boutiques, business shops, offices, cafes and a lot more. In 2006 there was a plan to rehabilitate the said “calle” to convert it into a tourism zone.
