The jetski is waiting in Gotan Beach, Santa Ana, Cagayan
To get to Gotan Beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan, you just need to go straight ahead passing by the side of Anguib Beach. You will get to see the entrance of Anguib Beach on your right side, but do not stop, instead drive straight ahead until you see a forest of aguho “pine” trees in the vicinity. However, if you do not have the pass to visit the area, you won’t be able to see Gotan Beach because the beach is not accessible to general public.

Sta. Ana’s Anguib Beach—A Must Visit White Sand Haven

Frolick in the ever white sands of Anguib Beach in Santa Ana, Cagayan
Did you know that Anguib (or Angib) Beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan is not really a public or a “no-one-is-owning” white sand beach but a semi-private venture in the island? Did you also know that Anguib Beach can be reached by land via private vehicle, by passing through fields of rice crops and greens of mountains, as opposed to other tourists who say that it can only be reached by boat when coming from Port of San Vicente also in the town of Santa Ana? Did you also know that there is also an adjacent secret beach called Gotan Beach which is exclusively only for elite visitors and casino gamers? Did you also know that other than Anguib Beach, there are also other coves with white sands, accessible by local tourists and some are still pristine because of their difficulty in accessibility? Did you also know that Santa Ana is also a place for scuba divers, kite flyers and adventure lovers? And did you also know that as opposed to the usual etymology of town’s name, Santa Ana was not named after a saint nor the name “Santa Ana” is religious of any sort?

Cemento Beach, Cobra Reef and Lukso-Lukso Islets of Baler, Aurora

Cemento Beach, Coba Reef an Lukso-Lukso Islets in Baler, Aurora
There was this old story about two gods who became angry with one another and so they quarreled on a particular day. One god picked up stones and rocks and remolded it. After molding the rocks, he threw it to his enemy. The other god did the same too. But when they threw their rocks to one another, it was miraculous that they do not even hit them. They were all missed. Thus, the existence of several hills, a thousand in actual, scattered around the island. Nope, that wasn’t the story of Cemento Beach, Cobra Reef nor the Lukso-Lukso Islets.

Ferry from Cebu to Camotes

Jomalia shipping ferry passengers during our trip to Camotes Island

One needs to ride a slow ferry (not a fast craft) to Camotes from Cebu. The ferry ride was approximately two hours but if there is only a bridge that connects mainland Cebu to Camotes Island then it would not even take you an hour to reach the island. And for two hours I spent time seeing seas and sniffing the salty air blowing through the sea craft.

Camotes Island Tours (Tips and Guide)

Clear turqouise waters will welcome you upon getting nearer to the Camotes Island in Central Philippines. (Consuelo wharf, Pacijan Island of Camotes Islands)

Camotes Islands (or Camotes Group of Islands) are islands located somewhere in the middle of bigger islands of Cebu, Bohol and Leyte. Camotes is composed of four different islands namely Poro, Pacijan, Tudela and Tulang. The different municipalities are Poro, Tudela, San Francisco (the town center) and Pilar. Only the town of Pilar in Ponson Island needs another ferry ride once you get to Consuelo port from the wharf in Danao City. Now Camotes Islands slowly emerge as another tourist hub in Central Philippines because of its simple beauty and amazing nature wonders like Lake Danao Park, Timubo Cave and their white sand beaches. Plus a community of friendly people.

Culebra (Collibra) Island: Dasol Secret Hideaway

Collibra or Culebra Island is what you are looking for in Dasol, Pangasinan. White sand beach plus rock formations equals paradise.

Culebra Island, or Collibra Island is an island paradise about 15-20 minutes by boat from the shores of Tambobong Beach in Dasol, Pangasinan. This island in Dasol boasts off its fine white sand beach and a total half of mysteriously formed rock formations. Its white sands were derived from the crushed rocks from the rock formations, and travelers will be able to understand this phenomenon once they get there. Another distinct property of Culebra or Collibra Island is that it has only four tall coconut trees and the rest are rocks and grasses. Tourists are advised therefore to bring umbrella and sun block if they plan to stay long in the island.

Passing the Crocodile Island in Dasol

The "eye" of the Crocodile Island in Dasol, Pangasinan

Crocodile Island in Dasol, Pangasinan was so named because the island itself looks like a crocodile, with the hole near the end of the island as its eyes. There were also legends that crocodiles once lived the area, but with time, they vanished because food was scarce. Now, Crocodile Island near Tambobong Beach in Dasol, Pangasinan became one of the tourist destinations in the said place, together with Balinmanok Cove, Culebra/Collibra Island, a cave and a shipwreck. As there are other islands in Dasol, Pangasinan, this island features naturally carve rock formations, with the hole of the islands as its mainstream.

Dasol, Pangasinan: Another Island Hopping Story

Crocodile Island in Dasol, Pangasinan
The first time I did island hopping was back when we visited Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos City, Pangasinan. After that, island hopping was already on my list of most wanted activities to do. And I never imagined that the next island hopping adventure was going to happen again in Pangasinan, now at a town in its western side, almost adjacent to the province of Zambales.

Hop to Hundred Islands: Snorkeling and Swimming Mode

Snorkeling at Hundred Islands National Park, Pangasinan
Hundred Islands National Park (or Hundred Islands but not 100 islands because they're more than 100 islands actually) is a good site for island hopping since it is composed of 123 islands and islets. You will see different islands including the three main islands where you can camp (Quezon, Children’s and Governor’s Island) and see some rock formations. We ate our packed lunch in Governor’s Island then we proceeded in our island hopping. You cannot stand by all of the islands; however, most of them are a good subject for your photograph souvenirs. Most of the islands are “rocky at the bottom part and plants vs. zombies on top”.

Hop to Hundred Islands!

Cathedral Island in Hundred Islands National Park

By the time you reach Dagupan, you have to look for a ride to Alaminos City, the home of 123 islands and islets. There are no direct trips from Manaoag to Alaminos so you have to cut trips and stopover in Dagupan City. You can actually ride a bus bound to Sta. Cruz in Zambales since it is passing through Alaminos. There are Victory Liner buses (along Perez Blvd.) bound to Sta. Cruz. You can also ride a van at the Pines Garage. By the way, we hired a tricycle (for P50) to take us to Pines Garage from the Public Market of Dagupan.
