Inside the Historical Core - Bell House in Camp John Hay, Baguio
Bell House is more of a creepy house than a historical museum. It’s because we arrived there already in the evening and the pine trees outside plus the chilly air sum up the setting as something more mysterious. The historical house turned museum should not be missed—if you want more of what Baguio feels like in the time of its beginning.

Baler tourist attraction map and guide
Baler, Aurora is an emerging tourist town comparable, but less crowded, to Sagada and Baguio City. Tourist destinations in downtown Baler are walkable since some of them are very near each other like Museo de Baler, Rolling Stores, Quezon Ancestral House and Baler Catholic Church. However, some other Baler tourist attractions in the greater Baler area, are farther, like the Millenium Tree and Ditumabo Falls. The farthest tourist spot in Baler area is the Ampere Beach which is already located in the town of Dipaculao, Aurora.

Welcome to Quezon Ancestral House in Baler, Aurora

Dona Aurora Aragon-Quezon Ancestral House in Baler, Aurora

There are so many interesting ancestral houses in the Philippines, other than museums like Museo de Baler. For one, these old houses withstood the test of time, dating back to 1600s or even older. They had witnessed the worst of the catastrophes and even though they were part of it, they did not evaporate. Long live these ancestral houses as they are the strong proofs of one’s rich heritage. One of which is Aurora Aragon-Quezon Ancestral House in Baler, Aurora.

Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House in Cebu City (A Home in the 1600s)

An abode in the late 17th century (1600s), the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House in Cebu City is a must visit heritage site.

The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House in Parian District of Cebu City is one of the oldest existing structural residential houses in the Philippines. It was constructed out of coral stones and woods, by a family of Chinese merchants sometime in the late 17th century. History tells that Parian was a busy barangay and the community houses were commonly designed with a second storey. To date, this “Balay nga Bato ug Kahoy” (house of wood and stones) stands still despite wrecks and fate of time at the corner of Mabini and Lopez-Jaena streets in Cebu City.

On the Spot! Camiling, Tarlac

Doon sa nayon ng Camiling, Tarlac

Part 3 of Camiling-Clark-Subic Getaway

Camiling is a first class municipality located at the north tip of Tarlac, adjacent to Bayambang in Pangasinan. Most of the locals here speak Ilocano, so if you know how to speak in Ilocano, you are good enough to go. Though if you will be able to figure out, Ilocano accent here is different from the accent of Ilocano in Baguio. Life in Camiling is simple, just like any other towns, but is very accessible and houses some cheap hotels and establishments like Jollibee and Chowking. There are no big malls, only supermarkets which can cater enough your basic needs. If you want to experience the best of Camiling, go here by third/fourth week of October, when the annual Chicharon and Iniruban Festival (iniruban = green sticky rice) is being held. Or go to Camiling on May 6-8 for fiesta. :)
